Inspired by the Japanese story of Princess Kaguya, a girl of light who never quite felt she belonged, Hikari speaks to something many women know well: the longing for connection, the feeling of being disconnected from yourself, or carrying old wounds that quietly shape how you relate to others and move through the world.
Whether you're constantly overthinking, struggling with self-worth, trying to keep everyone happy, or finding yourself in the same relationship patterns, we can explore what's happening beneath the surface.
I’m a Psychologist (Psycholoog NIP®, SKJ) based in Amsterdam and Haarlem, and I believe therapy is more than having someone listen. It's a collaborative process where I walk alongside you, offering warmth, honesty, curiosity, and sometimes a gentle challenge to the blind spots we all have.
The aim isn't to change who you are, but to understand yourself more deeply, reconnect with what matters to you, and discover new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Every so often, we run workshops, talks, and groups where you can connect with others figuring things out too. Bcause at Hikari, connection isn’t just an extra “niceness”, it’s everything. You can also find the complaints procedure here.

Between school pressure, friendships, family drama, there's a lot going on. Sometimes things feel overwhelming, and sometimes you can't quite explain what's bothering you. Therapy gives you a space to talk things through, make sense of how you're feeling, and figure out what works for you.

Maybe you're coverthinking, putting everyone else's needs before your own, struggling with selfworth, or finding yourself in the same unfulfilling relationship patterns. We'll look beyond the symptoms to understand how past experiences are shaping your present, & what you need to move forward.
20 Minute Free Consultation:
Step 1
Let’s connect for a free 20-minute chat. No pressure, just a chance to see if we’re a good fit and get your questions answered. When working with teens, I also invite parents for a free discovery call to explore your family’s needs.
Step 2
Legal Paperwork
Once you’re ready to get started, I’ll send over an informed consent form that explains the strict confidentiality I follow. It’s also a good time to check whether your insurance covers any of the costs.
Step 3
The Intake
Before we begin regular sessions, we’ll conduct a comprehensive assessment to help me understand your background and what’s holding you back. This session also helps us create goals together and get a good understanding on what you hope therapy will bring to your life.
For teen clients, the intake includes time with both the teen and the parent(s).
step 4
The First Session
After our intake session, the exploration begins. We’ll look at what’s happening now, and start to explore the bigger picture of how you got to this point. Feeling a bit nervous is completely normal, and I’ll do everything I can to help you feel at ease.
"From the start, therapy with Marique felt comfortable and free of judgment. I was able to quickly trust and open up to her, and her approach truly changed my mindset — by learning to tell the difference between my thoughts and my actual feelings, I was able to understand myself in a new way and feel less anxious while navigating the challenges of starting life in a new country." - CM, 28
